PIRSE: An Interdisciplinary Think Tank for Health-Environment Issues

MISSION

PIRSE is a think tank dedicated to studying the interactions between human health and the environment. Our interdisciplinary approach creates synergies between different domains of expertise to address contemporary challenges at the health-environment interface in a comprehensive manner, conducting research and synthesizing scientific knowledge. Our work, focused on public health issues with major societal implications, aims to inform debate and guide public health and environmental policies while making visible the complex interconnections between health and environment. We make this knowledge accessible to policy makers, the scientific and academic community, as well as the general public.

STRUCTURE

PIRSE, a Swiss law association, adopts an innovative structure to address complex health-environment challenges. Composed of a General Assembly, a Steering Committee, a General Secretariat, and an Interdisciplinary Advisory Committee of international experts, PIRSE is organized around two transversal units: interdisciplinary research and information & visibility. This approach, applied to our thematic departments, ensures synergy between research and knowledge dissemination, allowing for an integrated response to health and environmental issues.

Interdisciplinary Research Unit: This unit brings together multidisciplinary experts to conduct in-depth research on specific issues at the health-environment interface, exploring the complex interactions between health, environment, and socio-economic factors.

Information and Visibility Unit: This unit translates research results into accessible information for all audiences. Its missions encompass advocacy, professional training, and strategic communication, aiming to integrate these issues into public debate and policies.
